Family Chore Rules
Post this where everyone can see how chores, points, and pickup work.
How it works
- 1. Check your assigned chores first. These are the chores already on your list for the day or week.
- 2. Finish must-do chores before pickup chores. If a required chore is still open, pickup chores stay locked.
- 3. Do the chore completely. A finished chore should look ready for a parent to check.
- 4. Mark it done in the app. Some chores may wait for parent approval before points count.
- 5. Pick up extras when you can. Available pickup chores are a chance to earn more points after required work is handled.
Kid rules
- Do assigned chores before optional pickup chores.
- Only claim a pickup chore you are ready to do.
- Ask before skipping, swapping, or changing a chore.
- Mark chores done only after the work is complete.
- If a parent asks for a fix, finish the fix before moving on.
Parent rules
- Keep point values clear and consistent.
- Mark important chores as must-finish-before-pickup when needed.
- Approve completed chores regularly.
- Use the app as the source of truth for points.
- Reset or adjust the plan when the family routine changes.
